February Meeting

Good morning everyone,

In our last meeting we discussed the recommended Civil 3D workflow.  Several of you requested a copy of the slides for future reference.  I appoligize for getting this to you a little later than I wanted to.  Last week was a very busy week.  But please find attached the requested C3D workflow.  If you have any questions please fill free to drop the user group a line and we’ll do our best to answer your question.

Well,  I felt and I have heard that our last meeting went well.  I would like to have some more content and wanted to let you know we are well on our way to provided more content and information for us all.  Several times I have mentioned this is your user group and I would love to see a lot of user involvement.  I have heard from many of you that you feel the same.  So with that, I am asking you all if you would like to show something you have done in the past and how you used Civil 3D that would be great.  We already have a couple of users stepo and say they’d like to do something so I encourage you all to get involved in your user group.  It doesn’t have to be long.  It can be a 10-15 minute deal if that’s all you have.  Everything helps the group.  So thank you in advance for considering to demo something for the group.  If you feel you would like to, please forward your infomation to the group email here so we can get it on the schedule.  We already have something slotted for March and April so May or beyond is when we would be looking to fill in the schedule.  That gives you all plenty of time to prepare if need be.  Thanks again!

There are a couple of other things I like to mention.  One, at our last meeting we discussed forming an official Boise Civil User Group Board of Directors.  This is for a couple of reasons; our affiliation with AUGI and so we as a group have more than just one person leading the charge and doing everything.  I have done that in the past and it is much easier with support.  So please let me know if you are interested in helping out on the board.  It doesn’t take much of your time however we’ll take as much as you are willing to help.  We have already had a couple of guys step up and offer their help but there’s always room for more help.  If not this time around next time.  At the March meeting we will be electing the officers in so please be present.

The final thing I have for you today is, if you have not heard ProSoft is a new Autodesk Reseller now in Boise.  Many of you may have heard of them before and others of you maybe not.  I can tell you that I have meet with ProSoft’s leadership and they are excited to be here in Boise.  After meeting with them and through several conversations I can say their slogan “Not Just Another Autodesk Reseller”, I believe to be true.  ProSoft has been in the business for over 26 years.  They are very involved in user groups in other markets as a support role only.  The opportunity presented itself for BCUG to add another high quality sponsor.  I have asked them to come and be a part of our April meeting.  Please know as the founder and President of this user group (your user group) I am very cautious of who we bring on as a sponsor.  I’m not interested in sponsors that have an agenda and use the user group as a platform.  They’re only here because honestly user groups are not as successful without them (sponsors).   I am confident ProSoft is one of those trusted sponsors.   We still have the support of PacifiCAD and I’m happy to have two sponsors willing to help you guys and this community out.  ProSoft will offered to provide a civil guy at or meetings to help with content.  They will do a short demo on a topic in addition to the user demo/showcase.
I thank both PacifiCAD & ProSoft for their support in our user group.

If any of you have questions or feel differently I encourage you to please let me know ASAP (either way good or bad).  I would love to hear your feedback or input.
